Bill 148: Impacts to Ontario's labour laws and employment standards

On May 30, 2017, the Ontario government introduced legislation (Bill 148, The Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act) proposing significant amendments to the province's Employment Standards and Labour Relations acts.

Bill 148 received Royal Assent on November 27, 2017, bringing into immediate effect provisions on critical illness leave, increases to parental leave and provisions against employee misclassification.
